Karabala monument returned to its former place in Yerevan

The Karabala monument was returned to its former place on Abovyan Street in downtown Yerevan on Wednesday.

The monument symbolizes Karabala, the flower sellers, who walked on the streets of Yerevan, selling the flowers, and were considered part of the specific Yerevan spirit in early 20th century. Later, however, with the emergence of numerous flower stores, this job disappeared.

The Yerevan city hall art council has approved return of the monument on Monday session. To note, the monument was placed for the first time on Abovyan Street, one of the central streets of Yerevan city, then moved to various places. It was set up for a long time on Teryan Street as well.
