Anti-Armenian Turkish historian makes new claim

Kemal Cicek, who heads the Armenian Department at the Turkish Historical Association, made a new announcement which is quickly disseminated among Turkish media.

Cicek—who recently threatened Garo Paylan, an Istanbul Armenian school principal, during a live Turkish television program, and accused the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party in the murder of Hrant Dink—the founder and former chief editor of Istanbul’s Agos Armenian bilingual weekly, who was gunned down in 2007 in front of his office building—stated that the 5 million Ottoman golds, which were received from the sale of the Armenians’ belongings during the deportations in 1915, were given as compensation after World War I to the triumphant countries.

It is noted that today this amount is equivalent to 1 billion 300 million pounds.

But the Turkish historian’s statement is not accidental, since he is attempting to turn the compensation matter away from Turkey.
